In 2022 the energy crisis sent prices rocketing to record levels in Belgium, putting households and businesses under intense pressure. Synergrid’s members, the transmission and distribution system operators (TSOs & DSOs), kept tariffs under control, provided additional support to customers in difficulty and continued to invest in a more renewable energy system.

The ongoing energy transition is of utmost importance as we seek to use energy sources that are less carbon-intensive, more sustainable and more local. The grid plays a crucial role in this process and requires substantial, smart investment. Customers also have a key role to play, and system operators need to develop tools to enhance their flexibility.

If we are to rise to the global challenges of the energy transition, we must collectively coordinate the initiatives of the TSOs and DSOs within Synergrid.
